ROOTED
Walks for Christian Women
What can you expect?
Every walk will start with prayer.
We will have moments of reflection, focussed conversations and sharing as we walk.
I will take the stress off navigating, so you don’t have to work out all the logistics.
Walks will range from 45 mins (easy) to roughly 2 hours (moderate). Who knows, we might make them longer if we are as fit as fiddles :)
Walks won’t be wheelchair or buggy friendly. (Maybe this is something we could explore.)
Adventures will go ahead even if a bit rainy.
There will be a cafe/pub somewhere along the way or you can pack food/drinks.
Be prepared to meet new ladies, breathe fresh air and get muddy.
Straight-forward dogs welcome if the trail allows.
Come as you are :)
A little hello from me.
Over the last few years, daily walking has become one of the ways I’ve found to love myself well. It’s been a key ingredient of reuniting with my God-given body as I enter into the next phase of life, and kick-started a slow process of what it looks like to be healthy. It makes my heart happy, get’s my muscles moving and inspires my creative mind. It also feels slow, holy and purposeful.
Walking connects me with God and His creation and He loves to speak to me through it, in the mud, the rain, the barrenness and the beauty. I would love you to join me. I think there is something beautiful about coming together, learning from each other, sharing where we are at, confessing what we are struggling with and encouraging each other, so we aren’t walking alone.
FAQs
Who can attend the walks?
1
The walks are for women who want to go deeper in their walk with God alongside a community of women. We aim for the walks to provide an encouraging atmosphere, where we support each other with healthy physical lifestyle choices, and also grow our creative and spiritual lives. We may do some walks at easier levels that are more accessible, or walks for women who have babies at some point.
Why do I have to pay?
2
I spend time researching and planning the walks in advance, so they are helpful, accessible and we have a place to park, eat and wee... I also pray in advance to see what Jesus wants us to talk share and learn about. Additionally, I have public liability insurance, First Aid training and a Map subscription. In the future I will also have other facilitators involved that may require payment, but will spread the costs around the group. Payment will be minimal so it’s accessible to all.
What makes these walks different?
3
Each walk we pray. Purposefully. And seek to encourage hearing God for each other so that we come away feeling closer to God and each other. We want to provide space away from the busy lives we all lead to be honest and open with how we are actually doing. We will explore different ways we can connect to God outside, through art, through journaling, through plants etc. I can also be available to provide a bit of a check in with you to see how you are loving yourself since the last time we walked too. I know I really value that so maybe you will too.
It might be that you want to invite someone along that doesn’t know God yet. I will explore how that could work, perhaps even offering once a month walks for those specific people.
